a trip to our local zoo is always a treat, and especially so when it includes friends, sunshine, and lions pawing on the window!!

though it's a dream of mine to do a triathlon someday, it's been put on hold since i first discovered i was pregnant with kj. this weekend, though it felt kind of like cheating because, though i can't claim the whole race, relaying the timberman tri was a wee babystep in the right direction... thanks, md & mr, for convincing me to take this adventure with you! you rocked that race & i am proud of us... not to mention the many friends who also participated in the competition - i am impressed by you! and thankful for nanna & poppa & many others who helped make it possible by watching the kiddos & cheering us on meanwhile. i couldn't think of a better way to round out the race weekend, but to spend it lakeside with generous hosts... what a sweet weekend - i'd do it all over again in a heartbeat! :)

a grand vacation in grand marais. we welcomed another year of the world's best donuts, great rock-throwing any & all times of day, views from the kayak, campfires, grandparents, fireworks, swimming, bike-riding (including an anniversary ride for n+r & a dinner date at naniboujou lodge!), a visit to a local organic farm, and fresh air all day long. hard to beat that!
