community.

i am terribly excited that we are building a community garden this spring! together with two other families on our block, we're taking advantage of a sunny spot on our dead end street & transforming it into a hopeful harvest project. first step: remove old construction fill soil. step 2: import 12" of rich, dark, life-giving soil. step 3: erect 6'ht fence to keep all but vegetative life out. step 4: plant, water, & watch. step 5: eat. here we go!! rainstorm.

nothing like a spring rainstorm to get a little girl enthusiastic about life! she has been sad every time we have lugged her out of the storm. wish i had a raincoat for that girl. but then, what's so bad about a little shower anyway? my mom always said the rain makes your hair soft... ;)

bobber.

apparently the bobber is a magical tool for teaching a kid to fish. kj squeals in delight every time she reels in that "ball"... what great practice for summertime fishing with her daddy!

tower.

first time kj had any interest in building a tower that used ALL the blocks, not just enough for a good knock-down. oh, how things are a-changin'! well, not too much, really... this tower did eventually see a happy destruction. ;)

undies.

time for undies? i don't know! but we are trying them occasionally, as kj has asked to start potty training. what a huge new phase for these newbie parents & this little girl!

beh-buh.

this is an unusual reveal, but there is in fact no hiding it anymore. kj has found a new favorite friend and lucky for her it follows here wherever she goes! it is her beh-buh (that's "belly button," for those of you less privvy to our home's version of toddler-speak). it's not uncommon to find kj with her finger in her belly button these days. occasionally she'll share her food or toy with said 'friend.' and she has no qualms about hiking up a shirt or dress to seek it out. it's unique, i know, but you just can't knock an imaginary friend now, can you? introducing: beh-buh, in all its glory. ;)

mother.

money, mama, mommy-- i answer to it all, especially when it comes from sweet little kj, or her daddy, for that matter. what a wonderful day to celebrate being a family! freshly baked cinnamon coffee cake, a nice slow morning, and church with my two favorites. hard to go wrong there.

money.

it cracks me up every time i hear it... amidst kj's speech development, my name has suddenly become "MONEY!"  not so bad it if you claim, say, definition #47 of that particular word: awesome, as in "that's money!" grin.
