screamfest.

this week we got together for dinner with a couple of other dear families.  all three babies were actually awake at the same time!  i smell t-r-o-u-b-l-e... ;)

rock on.

this shot was captured only a few days before kj rolled over for the first time!  she can now officially escape tummytime if she so desires...

hunger.

this is the latest method we have discovered for determining whether kj is hungry... upon pressing her cheek to yours, does she attempt to EAT YOUR FACE?!?  if so, then please promptly feed that girl! ;)

reading.

kj loves to read!  she is so attentive, just looking and looking at every page as we read, and of course kicking her legs as much as possible when there is an especially exciting part of the story.  her favorite books change from day to day, but always include some eric carle, some dr. seuss, and some bible stories.  no matter who's the narrator, this girl's always game for a good read!

this horton book is the very one that her daddy used to read everyday when he was little.  it's still seared into his memory & to this day he can recite it from start to finish.  incredible!

kj's bonus from daddy's trip to the DR -- shakers!!

ikea.

ha!  this is what kj & nj thought of spending hours wandering around ikea over spring break... =P

jk, we actually did have a great time together there!!  that girl just sleeps on every walk she ever takes in the magic baby bjorn.

pine river.

this was kj's first trip to pine river, and nanna & poppa's house!  she slept in their crib, played on their floors, read lots of new books, walked with poppa around chickamaw beach, attended her first fish fry & birthday party, worked on a 1000pc puzzle with mom & nanna, and met so many new friends.  she even had her first trip to the dentist!  it was a week full of fun. 

incidentally, this was also kj & rj's first time away from daddy for such an extended period of time.  he chose to spend his spring break in a warmer climate, visiting uncle micah & aunt rebe.  i know he thoroughly enjoyed his time there, and we loved being in pine river, but we were also glad to be back together again!

week with gramma.

gramma's visit last week was so wonderful!  kj got so much time playing & being held.  plus we were relatively productive, compared to our usual weeks!  for mom, it was such a nice treat to get some things done while at the same time knowing that kj was being taken care of at any & every given moment.  plus, kj got to talk to & be entertained by someone who was lots more fun that plain old mommy.  

gramma even got to discover a brand new trick of kj's, and help her practice it!  it's called the grab-at-a-toy trick, and after observing a newborn's utter lack of control of all limbs attached to her own body, it was quite incredible to see kj be able to direct her arms & hands so purposefully.  what a miracle.

it was also super fun to re-learn how to sew, and now kj has new curtains, thanks to gramma!!
