another fishing trip to remember! it started out with quite an adventure-- after a full day's drive to savant lake, most of us headed up the new & improved trail on foot, while nanna, poppa & kate bumped along in the mule. until that mule got caught between a rock & a hard place (aka, gigantic mud puddle) and got completely stuck! it had started to rain & lightning by then, and dark was nearly upon us, not to mention past dinnertime & racing the clock against the babes' eating schedule. whew! thankfully, in true johnson fashion, we (well, perhaps it would be more honest to say, 'everyone but me!') called it an adventure, thanked our lucky stars we were all healthy & fit, and forged ahead! in the end, all eight adults, one toddler, and two very small babies arrived to the cabins, with ALL the gear & food (including dinner) shortly following in the mule. a nice ankle-wash in the lake, a few pancakes in our tummies, and we were ready for our next few days of fishing & fun. the weather was great, the babies were accommodating, the toddler had a blast, and wonder of all wonders, i managed to bring home the trophy this year (despite the limited fishing hours due to mama-duties!). a year to remember indeed. ;)
